Rejuvenate Naturally
Are you looking for a natural way to improve the appearance of your skin or restore hair loss?
PRP stands for Platelet-Rich Plasma and is an innovative technology for the rejuvenation of both skin and hair follicles.
Platelet-rich plasma is obtained by taking a small sample of blood from your arm, then separating it from the red blood cells with a centrifuge. It is then injected into different areas for rejuvenation. The benefits of PRP come from the growth factors that are found in the platelets, which result in the development of new collagen and elastin, fat cell formation, and blood vessels to restore healthy circulation to the areas injected. What this means for you is an improvement in skin tone, a reduction in the appearance of wrinkles, and an overall youthful look.
Experience matters when it comes to most aesthetic procedures, and this is particularly the case with PRP. Erin Bishop, FNP-C, DCNP, IFMCP has had the pleasure of training under cosmetic dermatologists and plastic surgeons across the country for these specialized procedures.
PRP is used in a variety of ways. Three services that we offer in our clinic include PRP Facelift, PRP Facial, and PRP Hair Rejuvenation.
PRP Facelift
Used in combination with a hyaluronic acid dermal filler such as Juvederm, the PRP works with the filler to plump and smooth the skin. Together, they have a synergistic effect, amplifying the results of filler alone. There is generally no to minimal downtime, and results can take up to three months to see the full benefit of the PRP treatment. Typically one treatment per year is needed to maintain the results.
PRP Facial
Medical microneedling is a procedure in which tiny sterile needles are used to pinprick the top layer of the skin, which causes the induction of collagen and elastin formation. During a microneedling session, PRP is massaged directly into the tiny temporary openings left after microneedling to turbocharge your healing and results. The benefits are smoother tighter skin with the addition of lightening pigmentations, minimizing pores and softening recessed scars. As an added benefit, any remaining PRP is injected into “trouble” areas of the skin to deliver added support to these areas. The treatment is virtually painless, great for most adults and teens, and has minimal downtime of approximately 2-3 days with a reddish sunburn look. The PRP facial is not limited to the face, and can also be done on the chest (décolleté), neck, and hands. Three to six treatments are recommended based on your needs and goals.
*Microneedling can also be done alone using peptides to enhance your results.
PRP Hair Rejuvenation
PRP can be used as a treatment for alopecia, or hair loss as well as thinning hair.
People with androgenic alopecia or male pattern balding have noted the best results with PRP hair rejuvenation. However, we have seen great results in people with other types of hair loss, including alopecia areata.
During the procedure, PRP is injected with a small needle in the thinning areas. Generally, 1-2 vials of PRP are needed. This amount may vary depending on the surface area to be treated. Pain and downtime are mild and results can typically be seen at six weeks, with three months being optimum growth. To maintain results, annual to semi-annual treatments may be needed.
