GLP-1 Peptide Weight Loss

GLP-1 is a weight loss treatment in Bend, OR, that is available through Michelle Hirschy, FNP.

As a medical provider, Michelle Hirschy, FNP, understands how frustrating stubborn weight gain can be. She has seen firsthand how perimenopause can impact metabolism, making it difficult to lose weight even with consistent exercise and a healthy diet. Many women experience this sluggish metabolism once they reach this stage of life. It can feel like no matter how hard they try, they just can’t get the scale to budge.

This frustrating process is often triggered by a complex interplay of factors, including stress, hormonal changes, toxins, and more. These factors can contribute to a state of chronic inflammation within the body. This inflammation can make it even harder to lose weight and can impact overall health. GLP-1 peptides offer a promising approach by helping the body release stored fat, boost metabolism, and reduce overall inflammation. They work in a way that addresses some of the underlying hormonal and metabolic changes that contribute to weight gain, particularly during perimenopause and beyond.

What is a GLP-1 peptide, and how does it work?

GLP-1 peptides are amino acids that decrease blood sugar levels and regulate insulin. They also mimic a hormone called glucagon-like peptide-1 that we naturally produce in our intestines. When you inject the peptide, it suppresses your appetite and makes you feel fuller faster. The GLP-1 peptide increases your metabolism and reduces cravings. It also activates parts of the brain and hypothalamus, which are responsible for balancing the hormones responsible for making you feel hungry or full, as well as for metabolism. Our cells begin to function properly due to the overall decrease in inflammation. Common benefits also include better energy, less brain fog, and an improved sense of well-being. I hear quite often, “I just feel better!”

Dosage and any adjustments will be discussed individually. I will see you once a month and, of course, as needed along the way. How long you will be on this peptide depends on individual weight loss goals, but the dose will be increased incrementally as directed and then tapered down to cessation.

I typically start at lower doses of the peptides to allow the body time to adjust and minimize side effects. The goal for weight loss is 1-4 pounds a week, which is combined with specific dietary and lifestyle education, monthly follow-up appointments with me, and complete guidance along the way. Weight loss can often happen at doses lower than the typical starting dose! Less side effects and great results for the win.
